500 participants from Run For Smile could be heroes for Children with cleft lips. Imagine, that 500 participants succeed in participating in the Smile Train Indonesia, International Charity Special Program for Children on Heroes Day, 10th November 2019.

Run for Smile; Be a Hero was held in collaboration between Smile Train Indonesia and Abhati Group alongside Harper Purwakarta hotels.

National heroes’ day tends to invoke our awareness regarding our role in society, for us to contribute and aid those with cleft care.

“This event’s main mission is to help those with cleft care so that we can gain the expected moral values.”- Deasy Larasati, Country Manager Smile Train Indonesia.

The event itself is packed with more than 500 participants, while every one of them must run and complete the 5km course. The start and the finish line are located in Hotel Harper Purwakarta. The participants include the public, patient’s families, and Smile Train Indonesia.

The respective organizations would also like to thank all the donors, such as Abhati Group and Hotel Harper Purwakarta.

“The kids with cleft care will face a lot of hurdles, starting from health-related problems such as the difficulties they will experience whilst eating, breathing, talking, and socializing,” said Deasy.

One of the many parents of the patients, Fatimah (30) expresses that this event was really helpful, especially when her husband is working as a day worker.

For your information, more than 9000 children are suffering from cleft care in Indonesia every year.

Since 2002, Smile Train Indonesia has helped more than 85.000 children all over Indonesia who suffered from cleft care. It is achieved by establishing partnerships with hospitals, including TNI as well.
